Over the past fifty years Ron has won numerous awards not only throughout New Zealand but also throughout the world. As well as this he has judged numerous national and international exhibitions of photography.

His work has been exhibited in major international photography exhibitions in five continents and has won the New Zealand Salon of Photography six times along with winning the national Brian Brake award for photojournalism twice. He has also won every other major New Zealand photography salon at least once along with a number of Gold medals in overseas international photographic salons. In addition to the major awards he has had over 2,000 exhibits of his work.

With a high level of activity in the Christchurch Photographic Society, for over fifty years, he has also won most of their trophies.
